PEORIA - Lydia D. Pierce, 80, of Peoria passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
She was born on November 11, 1940, in Peoria, a daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Turbett) Johnson. She married Walker Lawrence Pierce Jr. on June 20, 1959, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2018, in Peoria.
Lydia was also preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Tricia Bennett; brother, John (Ilene) Johnson Sr.; and sister, Lucille Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Sherry (Daniel) Bennett of Peoria and Kenneth (Amber Lawson) Pierce of Peoria; two grandchildren, Tracy Bennett and Robert (Kate) Pierce; five great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Joshua, Taylor, Charlotte and Eleanor; brother, Henry (Marge) Johnson of Glasford; and a niece and nephews.
Lydia worked as a village trustee for the Village of Norwood for over 30 years. She was a former member of the PTO, room mother and school librarian at Norwood School. Lydia loved to do things for her family. Her family was her world. She was always helping others. Lydia new everyone and if she didn't know you, she made sure she did. She always had a tan from mowing, planting flowers and keeping her yard and others picture perfect.
Lydia's funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Her visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, also at the funeral chapel. An additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Bartonville.
