I had the honor of knowing M.K. over the last 11 years. He was my grandfather's, Joseph P. Hage's, first cousin. M.K. was one of the most remarkable individuals I have ever known. It was an honor to know him as my cousin. You truly touched my life and you will truly be missed.

I was a tenant of his on 812 E. 31st Street. I am so sad to see that he is no longer with us. He was a very inspiring man and had some wonderful stories to tell of his childhood. And, he loved good food. He will definitely be missed.

Dear Patti, Charlotte, Jennifer, and Robin,
I'm so sad to hear that your father (and my cousin) M.K. died. I enjoyed a long visit with him last year, and he was as funny and smart as ever. Your father was always very kind to me, and especially so at a particular time in my life when it really mattered.
May dear M.K. rest in peace.
Kindest Regards, John

MK was my 6th grade principal and advised me later in life to pursue my MBA. Also, my family attended All Saint's. MK gave much of himself to our community. God's blessings upon his family from ours.

C.A. would have been disappointed had I not taken note of M.K.'s passing. He was a man Austin can be proud of, a credit to the community in so many ways.He and C.A. will have a grand time talking over old times in Heaven.

Patti and Family,
My prayers are with you in the loss of your dear dad. "Mr. Hage" was my 5th grade teacher at Casis and I will never forget him. He spoiled us for all the teachers who followed by making school FUN and regularly telling us how smart we were. Then he demonstrated it by introducing us to algebra. Of course, this made math TOTALLY boring for the next 3 years!!! I am a better person and Austin is a better place because of the life of M.K. Hage.
With gratitude,
Carol Hawkins

My sympathy and love go to the Hage family. I didn't know Mr. Hage personally, but I did know Nettie who was a delightful person. I still think of her often. May the wonderful memories of Mr. and Mrs. Hage help heal the sadness you feel today. Most sincerely, Margaret Goodman

What an amazing family. I have heard so many wonderful stories about "Nana" and "Papa" from the Hirsh family. I'm so glad you can all be together during this time...Nana and Papa would be so proud of how you support each other as a family and wouldn't have it any other way.
Treasure and relish your memories.

Nettie and MK were loyal friends, fantastic neighbors, and kind, considerate individuals. MK kept me smiling for a considerable time after he dropped one of his witty comments. I'll miss both of them for years.

M.K. & Nettie were the sweetest neighbors and friends to Hugh and me. They cared about their community and were generous to all they encountered; from tamales at Christmas to donations to the Church and their favorite charities. I miss them both but comforted in knowing their girls will continue in their good works. A kind hearted, gentle and opinionated war hero and sweet man. Give our love to Nettie & MK too.

After leaving my own family Christmas celebrations, M.K. and "Nana" always graciously opened their home to me on Christmas day with their family. M.K.'s granddaughter, Sara, is my best friend and my thoughts are with her and her family. It's a tragedy to lose both M.K. and "Nana" so close together. They will truly be missed, they were two amazing people I am glad to have known.

I had the pleasure and the honor of knowing Mr. Hage through my work at the Austin Doctors Building. He and I shared many conversations about life, art, education, and business. One of my fondest memories is Mr. Hage laughing as a small group of us shared personal stories on a late summer afternoon. At each of our visits he encouraged me to seek more, learn more, and become more despite obstacles. He will be with me always...

I have fond memories of Mr. Hage walking into Bailey Square Surgery Center at 5:00am, grabing himself a cup of VERY strong coffee and standing at the nurses station visiting with me while I set up for the day. He was always so pleasant and full of life.
Mr. Hage also gave my oldest daughter her very first job. She had the opportunity to work in his office where he took the time to show her some of the ropes, advised her on her decisions about school and showed her that another adult (besides her parents)did care about her. Thank you Mr. Hage.
Sincerely,
Susan Vasquez R.N.

Our friend M.K. Hage was a strong supporter of education and benefactor of the arts, and his influence will continue long after his passing. News of his demise has brought a deep sense of personal loss. He was a true friend to all those who knew him well and benefited from his wisdom, generosity, and kindness.
