Maggie Cone Obituary

MAGGIE FLORENCE CONE Maggie died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Pacific Gardens in Fresno, after a brief illness, ending a life filled with family, friends, and much happiness. Maggie Bloys was born in Puxico, MO, on October 27, 1908, and was raised in AK. After moving to Lubbock,TX, she met Thomas Fowler Cone. They married on June 30, 1929, and had three children, Thomas, Frances, and Hugh were born. In 1945, they moved to CA, on the way James, was born in AZ. They settled in Fresno, where C Michael was born. Maggie was kind and gentle with a constant smile and bright, quick eyes. She could talk to anyone about anything and often did. Throughout her life she worked at various jobs that fit her caring and gregarious nature, including work in child-care, market research, and foster grandparent program. Never afraid of challenges, she completed an Associate of Arts degree at Fresno City College in 1969. Gardening was one of her passions. Perhaps most important to her, after her family, was the First Southern Baptist Church of Fresno. She was an active member for many years working in the nursery on Sundays and also teaching Bible study classes. Her husband preceded her in death in 1983. She is survived by her five children. Visitation will be held at Stephen's & Bean Chapel on Friday, March 28, 2003, from 2:00 [p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park on Saturday, March 29, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. STEPHENS & BEAN CHAPEL202 No. Teilman, Fresno (559) 268-9292Lic. #11
