Im one of buds kids, Mack and bud were friends... the last conversation we had, I was talking about going into the military. The last thing Mack said to me was "make me proud, I know you will." So that´s what I will do. Mack I miss you like crazy, fly high. Thank you for everything

Our condolences to the family

To the Family of Deputy M.T. Custalow, I was saddened to hear of Custalow's passing. We met when I taught night school at KWHS in the early 2000s. Custalow began calling me by my nickname, Rootie, and I called him Custalow. I saw him last fall in the Foodlion in Aylett. I heard someone say Rootie and it was Custalow. We talked for a bit. Mac was my favorite officer. I tried to schedule my time to coincide with his shifts so we could talk about world affairs. I wish I´d known he was struggling. I struggle too.
