Margaret Rhoades Obituary

GREENVILLE — Margaret (Walton) Rhoades passed away Monday, December 7, 2020, at The Village Green in Greenville. She was born January 4, 1932, to Conley and Marie Walton.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard E. Rhoades. Margaret is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Deborah Rhoades; grandchildren, Amanda Jo, Alyssa Joy and Alphonso James; three great-grandchildren, Isabel, Isaiah, and Zane Michael; numerous brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Coleen.

Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Walton; her son, Michael Rhoades; her daughter, Annette Rhoades Durden, all whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, and charm.

Margaret lived a full life as wife, mother and friend. She worked at NCR in Dayton, The Daily Advocate and Wieland Jewelers in Greenville. She did not like to cook and was blessed with a husband who knew all the good restaurants within the tri-state area. Margaret loved people and was a member of several organizations: Annie Oakley Camping Club, Treaty Square Dancing Club, Darke County Civic Theater, and shared the Annie Oakley Melodrama Stage. She was quite the actress! Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greenville.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com

Margaret, was a beautiful woman inside and out. She had a laugh and smile that made you do the same. We always loved having her and Richard around at church and church activities. May our Lord continue to watch over and bless Richard.

I am sorry for the loss of this amazing woman. Margaret was an inspiration to me as a teen during the early 1980s. We shared the melodrama stage off and on for a decade at Annie Oakley Days and the Memorial Hall stage for several productions with DCCT. Over those years Margaret became a friend who never shied away from sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom. It is her laughter that will always stay with me. Thanks for the memories, my friend.

So deeply sorry to hear of Margaret's passing but I know she is with the Lord. I enjoyed the times we spent together at church and our church events. She was always brought laughter to all of those around her. May God give you comfort Dick in knowing she's at home and "IT IS WELL WITH HER SOUL".
