Mariana Esquivel Obituary

ODESSA Mariana Maldonado Esquivel of Odessa, Texas, went home to her Heavenly Father on Jan. 19, 2011.

She was born on June 2, 1925 to Jose and Gregoria Maldonado in Sanderson, Texas.

On Jan. 20, 1949, she married Luis Esquivel and began her life long career as wife, mother and grandmother. She was blessed with five children Joe, Jessie and Luis Esquivel, Mary Waid and Dolores Vick.

It is difficult to capture in words the love of a mother and the devotion she has for her family, to express her character, the joy and how our lives were better because of her and to express, how deeply we loved her and the sorrow we feel that she is lost to us for a time.

Mariana has been joyously reunited with her husband Luis, her parents and sisters Louisa Maldonado and Delfina Vianes.

She is survived by her brothers, Lorenzo, Manuel, Valentine, Augustine and Jose Maldonado.

Her children and 16 grandchildren, Joseph, Luis, Becky, Veronica, Daniel, Rene, Matthew, Luis, Virginia Esquivel, Gina DeHoyos, Angie Ramos, Christina, David and Arnold Waid, Mariana Nicole and Amanda Vick, 12 great- grandchildren, Mariana, Sarah, Elijah, Joshua, Luis, Kristen, Ethan, Lauren, Ariana, Emily Esquivel, Ambrosia, Samantha and David Jacob Waid, Noah Ramos and many wonderful sister-in-laws, son and daughter-in-laws, nephews, nieces and cousins.

There will be a Rosary said at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family expresses special thanks to the staff at the Crane Nursing Center for their care and loving treatment of Mariana.

Services entrusted to Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.

I'm very sorry to hear to hear of Mariana's passing. She was a friend of my mom's when they lived in Sanderson and later when we lived in Monahans. I remember playing with the Esquivel kids when we were little. May God Bless you and help you through this terrible loss.

Oh so sorry to read about your Mrs. Esquivel's passing but she is finally joined again with your daddy, something I remember hearing her long for. Mrs. Esquivel was always so very nice to us, especially when, as youth, we'd go to the family home and practice singing in the Holy Redeemer Youth Choir. My love and prayers to all of you! I'll never forget her and you!
