Marilyn Beaubien Obituary

Marilyn Beaubien was born on March 31, 1935, in Perryton, Texas and passed away on September 17, 2014, in Sherman, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lorene Richardson, of Perryton, Texas.

At Perryton High School, Marilyn loved playing basketball, graduated as valedictorian of her senior class, was crowned Miss Perryton in the local beauty contest, then went on to be crowned Wheatheart of the Nation. She attended Southern Methodist University on an academic scholarship, was a member of Tri Delta Sorority, and graduated with a degree in Radio and Television. She then worked in Dallas at KRLD radio, acted in community plays, and appeared in TV commercials on Channel 4.

She soon met her future husband, Phil, in Dallas and married December 21, 1958. In 1960, they had their first child, Rick, and then in 1962, their daughter Michelle was born. While pregnant with Michelle, Marilyn was diagnosed with a brain tumor which was removed six weeks after Michelle was born; however, she persevered and when Michelle entered first grade, Marilyn went back to college and earned a Bachelor degree in Speech Pathology and a Masters in Audiology while on a government fellowship for intellectual excellence. Later, she obtained her hearing aid license, worked at Health Focus Audiology and then retired from the Dallas Easter Seal Society.

Marilyn's lifelong passion was a love of art at which she excelled on many levels, with her favorite subjects being portraits of family members and horses.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Phil Beaubien, daughter, Michelle Saye of Whitesboro, son, Rick Beaubien and wife Patty of Kingwood, and grandchildren: Christine Saye Place and husband Casey, Chad Saye, and Victoria Beaubien. Marilyn is also survived by cousins Phyllis Farrington of Stephenville, Jerry Key of Ft. Worth, and Nancy Barkley of Perryton, sister-in-law Denise Klinger and husband Tom of Denver, along with nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Marilyn will be greatly missed by all.

There will be a graveside service on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Restland Cemetery in Dallas at 2 p.m. with a viewing at Metrocrest Funeral Home in Carrollton from 4 – 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that money should be sent to your favorite charity in her name.

September 20, 2014

Marilyn and I have been classmates and friends since 1945. We, my wife Doris and I, kept in contact with her and Phil especially on their birthdays.
I had spoken with Marilyn on the 10th of August and at that time, to me, she was in good spirits.
We will miss you sister! You are now in the arms of our Lord and Savior where there is no more pain.
In Christian Love.
