Mrs. Marilyn Whittaker Overman, of Friendswood, Texas, born on February 23, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Wilma Waddell Whittaker and the late Ralph Scott Whittaker, passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones at age 92 on July 25, 2018 in Friendswood, Texas. Marilyn attended Broad Ripple High School. She was an employee at Indiana Bell Telephone Company, Trans World Airlines, and was a homemaker. Marilyn was the beloved wife of the late Jesse Verle Overman and was preceded in death by her son, Mark Wayne Overman and sister, Wilda Whittaker Gossman. Marilyn is survived by her daughter Lynda Overman Crouse (Jeff), sons Steven Scott Overman (Holly) and James William Overman (Diane), and daughter-in-law Nichon Blye Overman; grandchildren, Abigail Crouse Makoski, Andrew Scott Crouse, Jackson Charles Crouse, Matthew Horton Overman, Jonathan Holloway Overman, Peter Whittaker Overman, Meghan Overman Tieman, Molly Katherine Overman, Morgan Christine Overman, Catherine Overman Hof, and Michael James Overman; and great-grandchildren, Turner Anthony Makoski, Lucinda Lee Crouse, Alice Anne Crouse, Dagny Hannah Crouse, Theodore Charles Crouse, James Holloway Overman, Ada Jakob Overman, and Oliver McCleskey Overman. Marilyn loved gardening, painting, playing bridge, attending symphonies, reading, playing golf, traveling, playing the piano, and singing in the church choir. She was a life-long member of First Friends Meeting. Marilyn enjoyed being around people and volunteered at Goodwill Industries, Indiana Historical Society, Earlham Women s Club, Crossroads Guild, and was a Red Cross Gray Lady. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn s name to the Overman Family Scholarship Fund in care of First Friends Meeting are welcome. Friends and family members may attend the memorial service, officiated by Rev. Daniel Miller, on Monday, July 30 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at Village on the Park, 400 East Parkwood Ave, Friendswood, Texas. A celebration of life will take place, officiated by Pastor Bob Henry, on Saturday, November 10 at First Friends Meeting, 3030 Kessler Boulevard East Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana. Marilyn will be remembered as a loving and gracious lady who touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Marilyn and Jess were two of the most special people I have known. As their pastor for many years I treasured their love, support and wisdom (Of course, with Jess I also received a lot of specific advice as well).
