Marilyn J. Reitz, 91, of North Platte, passed away March 24, 2022 at Great Plains Health.  She was born March 31, 1930 to Harold and Blanche Yvonne (Reason) Hanneman in Beatrice.


Marilyn and her family lived in Lincoln and she graduated from Lincoln High School.  She then attended University of Nebraska and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  While working at the VA hospital, she met her future husband, Richard Reitz.  The couple married in November of 1954.  They lived in Omaha then moved to Alliance.  They moved to North Platte after a couple of years and Marilyn worked for Dr. Bernie Taylor, OBGYN.  She then worked as a school nurse for North Platte Public Schools until she retired.


Marilyn belonged to First Christian Church.  She was fiercely independent and very sharp.  Marilyn enjoyed quilting, making beautiful quilts and many clothes.  She loved Nebraska football and volleyball, enjoyed doing puzzles and was an avid dog lover.


Survivors include children, Dan (Christina) Reitz of Wasilla, AK, Susan (David) O’Neil of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Erick Reitz, Alicia Reitz, Nikolai Reitz, Amy (Elliott) Dudley, Ariel O’Neil, Sean (Tori) O’Neil; great grandchildren, Clara Dudley, Colette Dudley; beloved dog, Max; several other family members and many friends.


Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Yvonne; husband, Richard; sister, Judy Wendorff.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 28, 2022 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.  Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Susie and Dan, we are so sad to hear of the news about Aunt Marilyn. It may be a part of life buts it´s not easy. Grief is truly grief. Our sincere condolences and sending love your way. God bless all of you.

Susie and Dan I just heard about Aunt Marilyn´s death. I remember when I was a little girl my favorite doll disappeared. After several months your Mom And Dad came to visit and Aunt Marilyn had made Bunch of darling clothes for my doll. She was a wonderful and talented lady. I worked with Marilyn both at Dr. Taylor's office and at the school. Enjoyed working with her. She loved her family and her dogs so much. Thoughts and prayers for you all.
