Suzie and Family: The first time I went to Mario the Baker's in North Miami was in 1970, when I was dating my husband, while he was home on leave from the U. S. Navy. When we married in 1972, going to Mario's became a WEEKLY tradition. And, when our babies were old enough, they were introduced to Mario's World Famous Garlic Rolls, minus the garlic and oil. As a Piper student in the 80's I spent a lot of time eating at the Sunrise store. When I moved to Palm Beach, I introduced my Children to Marios. Being from CT myself Mario would talk to me about our home state. The most memorable moment came when one of my young sons asked him if he was the Mario from the video game. RIP sir.

Mario the Baker was an integral part of high school. It was a safe place to go and enjoy good times. As an adult i never missed the opportunity to get my fill of garlic rolls. Mario was a nice guy to us kids then. Condolences to you and your family. Thanks for sharing him/his food, all those years.
