I had Miss. Fahey as my fifth grade teacher at the Emily A. Fifield school in the mid-50s. She made all the difference in the world to my education, being firm that I read beyond the sports pages and insisted that I get a library card. I wrote about the positive effect she had on me for the Dorchester Reporter a few years ago: https://www.dotnews.com/2010/remembering-my-days-fifield-and-special-teacher

I knew Marion many years ago when she was superintendent of the Boston Public Schools. I am sorry to learn of her passing, but happy to learn that she led a long rich life and that she had a long career in banking after she retired from the Boston Schools. In her time she was a role model for other professional women. May she Rest In Peace.
