Marjorie Tibbits Obituary

Majorie Tibbits 95, suddenly died at her home in North Jackson on the afternoon of July 3, 2024.

Majorie was born October 17, 1928 and was the daughter of Karl and Nellie Mound VanAuker. She and her brothers David and John were raised on a dairy farm in Ellsworth Township. Most of her fondest memories were growing up on that farm.

She graduated from Canfield High School in 1946. She was a member of the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church for most of her life.

She worked at many different jobs in her life time, being a waitress at Howard Johnson, Country Kitchen, and the 76 Truck Stop were some of her favorite places.

She married her husband, Howard Tibbits in 1951, they lived in Canfield for a couple of years before they bought a 7-acre piece of land in North Jackson. It was there that they built their home and raised their four children. One of Majorie's passions was animals, especially horses. They raised horses, sheep, and goats.

4-H played a big part in her life, as a child she was a member, and as an adult, she was an advisor. She was an advisor for sewing and cooking clubs, farm animal clubs, and of course her favorite saddle horse clubs. She was one of the founding members of the 4-H pop shop.

She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making clothes for her children. She loved to travel throughout the US and took a trip to Europe and Hawaii, and also took several cruise ship tours. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida in the 80’s and 90’s. In her later years, she enjoyed just sitting out on the back porch watching the birds, and reading a book brought joy.

She will be missed and remembered by her growing family, children Linda (Don) Anderson of North Carolina, Wayne (Lori) Tibbits of Ellsworth, and Ruth Tibbits of Poland; her five grandchildren Carolyn, Jessica, Tricia, Chad, and Spencer; and her eight great-grandchildren Emily, Noah, Addy, Riley, Cailyn, Page, Ellia, and Ellie; and her great great grandchild Thea.

Lost to her were her husband Howard Tibbits, daughter Karla Tibbits, brothers David VanAuker, John VanAuker, sisters-in-law Carol VanAuker, June VanAuker, Helen Tibbits, and brother-in-law Chuck Tibbits.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 12th from 10:00-11:00 AM at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. To share thoughts of sympathy visit lanefuneralhomes.com
