MARK R. BREY

This is very sad news. I am so very sorry that I have let time slip away and did not contact Mark earlier. Now it is too late. I met Mark at a photo lab in Washington DC in the late 70's, along with Paula Ptacek. Mark was such an open, warm and fun loving person. He moved to Corte Madera, and was gracious enough to let me and me girlfriend and her son stay with him for 6 weeks while we found our own place. His dog Rootboy was such a wonderful faithful Golden Retriever! I am so sad that I did...

Mark was my best friend for 43 years. I will miss his companionship, humor and guidance. He showed incredible courage in the face of adversity, forgiveness when wronged and more love for his family and friends than can be imagined. I will miss him dearly, and will never forget him.

The others here plus my colleagues at Cal Performances wrote my exact sentiments for Mark and about Mark and Melanie. I missed him and was sad when he no longer worked with us - always so helpful and there for you - now there is a deeper sadness but his memory will live on. Thanks Mark for our conversations - your unbounded love for the arts and Hawaii amongst many things!

Mark was a great big brother. He always made it a bit easier going through the usual trials and tribulations of growing up. What I really loved about him was his friendship. What most big brothers wouldn't allow he didn't seem to mind - especially during our high school years he let me hang out with he and his friends (some good guys) and I even dated one for quite a while. Mark was one of the sweetest, smartest, funniest men I've ever known. During the years we worked together, seeing Mark was always one of the highlights of my day. I can't believe he's gone and I will miss him terribly. May the four winds blow you safely home, friend. With love always,

I met Mark in Washington, DC, in 1977, when we both working at the same phogography lab. We became instant friends and I treasure all the many happy times we spent together. Mark was the brother I always wanted and finally had, he was always there for me. He had the rare combination of relaxation and energy, and his love of life was apparent in everything he did. Mark grew up in the same Tucson neighborhood as I did. We were good friends but lost contact after high school graduation. He was always one of the 'nice guys'. The world will not shine quite as bright without him. May God welcome him with open arms, I know he will. We'll keep his family in our prayers.

What a beautiful obituary for a beautiful man. I will cherish my memories of Mark, and always remember how much I enjoyed being in the presence of both Mark and Melanie, to witness what a truly loving blending of souls was all about.
