Mark Eyring Dixon

I join with all of Mark's family and friends in remembering him five years on from his passing.

Miss your happy face and laugh. You were so generous and kind to me when we worked at The Emporium. You decorated my office when I was promoted to Direct Mail Home Art Director. In a phrase, Mark can be described as a gentleman and a scholar. He and I grew up in the Bay Area as cousins and kept in touch throughout our lives. I loved Mark and his ease with conversation and never making anyone feel dumb, even though he was much more informed on an intellectual level than most of his interlocutors. I am tremendously saddened to learn of the passing of my wonderful friend and intellectual comrade Mark Eyring Dixon. Mark and I met on the patio of some SOMA watering hole a few years back and became fast friends. At first glance a friendship sprouting between a libertarian, as Mark described himself, and an ossified Stalinist, as he described me, would seem unlikely if not impossible. I went to Westport High School with Mark and we attended the same church. There was never a dull moment with Mark around. He had a great sense of humor and it makes me smile to remember him. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. Jan Kirby Diaz

Mark has so many friends who loved him here in Louisville where he grew up. It's almost time for his annual pilgrimage here for Derby Week! I will miss his humor, sarcasm, and intelligence, as will many others. We will have a celebration honoring Mark here in Louisville on June 4.

I went to Westport High School with Mark and graduated with him in 1972.
He was a wonderful person and we became even better friends after high school.
He was brilliant, fun and charming and I will miss him terribly, but he will be one of those souls who is always remembered in a very positive good way. May God bless him.
