Dr. Mark Kahn

I knew Mark in high school. I loved him.

As an undergraduate at Hamilton, Mark was always the guy who spoke up in class. An English major who became a doctor, the compassion he learned in literature touched everything he did in science. When he returned to campus decades later, he and his dog arrived in his Jeep with an idea: The Adirondack chairs he scatted all over college hill encourage formal colloquy every bit as they afforded a spot for quiet relaxation. And that was oh-so-kahn: smart as a whip but as comfortable as an old shoe.

Mark was a bright light in our medical school class - clearly an independent thinker. Although we were both at Beth Israel, albeit in different programs he being in surgery and I being in medicine, we lost track of each other after I moved to Miami for my residency. It is wonderful to learn that in addition to a successful and satisfying career, he also had many outside interests and had a successful and satisfying personal and family life - this is the most important personal...

Mark was indeed a remarkable man. My sincere condolences to the entire family. Special love to Brenda and Max, who were a vital part of the EMS Summer String Festival. His light will be missed.

One of my MANY teachers of the Surgical Field. I MISS the MANY times that were either WERE Funny or Serious. The radio & the sandals he wore on his feet. Whatever made you comfortable in working in the OR. Mark was A PLEASURE to work with. He KNEW about how to TREAT patients with care and dignity. ONE OF A KIND! So MANY Stories. My sincere condolences to Dr Kahn's family.....I worked with Dr Kahn for many many years.....he was a wonderful surgeon....always put his patients first....took excellent care of my sister....and was a friend when you needed......tough on the outside but was careing.....and kind deep down.........love to Brenda and family
