Mark was a student teacher in my classroom at FS Key elementary many years ago. While it was a challenging placement, I remember his genuine heart and dedication very well. I want his family to know that I have thought about him over the years and am very, very saddened by his passing. I know he loved his family so much- I remember how he spoke about you all with such pride. Please know his life mattered to me.

My deepest condolences to the Powers family. I had the chance to work with Mark at FDR School. He was passionate about his teaching and finding ways to connect with the students; he was always asking advice on how to be an even better teacher and ways to deepen his relationships with the students. We would talk after school often about strategies and techniques to apply in the classroom or just reminisce about old sports stories. I admired his attitude and mindset to become the best he could...

I remember Mark and Adam both as adorable little boys when they lived in Parkmerced. SO sorry to hear he passed away. My sister Joanie used to babysit for them. God bless him and bring comfort to their family.

Mark,
I cannot express how much you will be missed. You were a wonderful friend and support to so many people and touched so many people's lives. Rest in peace my friend until we meet again someday.
Prayers for your family during this time of grief and loss. May your hearts heal in time.
Love to you,
