Not sure what to say?

Some what belatedly I learned of Mark's passing. I knew him and Dave Martin on Governors island for many years . He spent many hours in the officers club talking to my late wife Kim when she was working. He participated in promotion ceremonies and parties for me as I advanced in my career. Though we have not been close in recent years. He is a friend that I cherish and keep in my heart. I pray for mercy and grace for his entire family as they go forward in this difficult time.

Mark Stewart (L) co-presenting a financial disclosure MOOC with an OGE colleague.

My condolences to Mark Stewart's family. I have never met Mark, but his impact on me has been immense. His MOOC video series on financial disclosures and analyzing conflicts of interest were foundational to my government ethics career. I always mentioned him to his OGE colleagues and expressed hope that I would meet him and thank him in person.

Mark was an exceptional colleague, always ready to use his expertise to help when I was new to the agency, and to answer complex questions as the years passed. I never felt like I was bothering him, he was just that kind of a person- open and welcoming. He was also a treasured friend, someone whose presence I will miss. So very sorry to hear of Mark's passing. Condolences to all of the Stewart family. Sincerely, Debby Leigh

A heartfelt thank you for your service and dedication to our country. Rest In Peace.

May each of you find peace in treasured memories.

I did not know this man but am sure I sailed some of the same waters at the same time. Thank you for your service you Cold War Warrior, it is appreciated. You are relieved. Rest in Peace. Wishing you Fair Winds and following seas.

Cathy, Susan & Claire, We were sad and shocked to read about Mark. We don´t have many memories of Mark in North Creek but we thought of him often because his bedroom was our conference room after we bought your family home for the engineering office. In reading the obituary and reading about Mark, you all received your Dad´s humor and may that and memories help you during this horrible time. We send virtual hugs and look forward to seeing you in the summer. Jim & Carolyn

Mark, I cried when I heard of your passing. I hope you know that you left an indelible mark on your colleagues at OGE. You were heroic in the way you showed courage under fire and grace through it all. You were always decent to everyone and had a way of making us laugh. You were like rock-n-roll and I will cherish that about you. It was an honor to know you. My heart goes out to your family and friends during this very difficult time. Rest in Peace Mark.
