Marsha Helveston Obituary

Marsha Lenel Helveston, resident of Harahan, Louisiana, died on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. She was 71 years old. Marsha was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on September 10, 1949 to the late Walter Coney Helveston and Omega Street Helveston. She graduated from Newcomb College, where she received a bachelor of fine arts degree. Marsha was a personal banker with JP Morgan Chase Bank. Marsha married her husband of 10 years, Joseph B. Lips, Sr., on May 28, 2011 in New Orleans at the House of Broel. She is also survived by a nephew, Walter Helveston. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Linda K. Helveston.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Monday, July 26, 2021 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 1:00pm at Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Marsha was the kindest, sweetest person and we were friends from the second grade through high school. I think of her often and miss her.
