Not sure what to say?

Professor Bialosky,
I will never forget you. Sometimes you seemed severe, yet you and warmth and a little smile to your severity. Like a strict protective father you cared for our learning & education. I enjoyed the works you wrote--and especially enjoyed the repertoire you chose for our Choir.
You will be missed by many but you left behind gifts of perpetuity to your students!

Sorry to hear. In the end all we composers leave is the legacy of the art of music. I'm grateful that he took such tremendous care of all my musical materials against overwhelming opposition from so many quarters so many years ago. A lot of correspondence passed between us in the days when letter writing was still practiced. Rest eternal.

Sanjo, Shara, Rebecca, Debbie, & Adam--

My thoughts and prayers are with you. The Bialosky family has been very important in the life of the Cohen family. We first became acquainted with Marshall when my sister, Janelle, attended CSUDH when it opened in 1965, and she sang in Marshall's chorale.

I enrolled at Dominguez as a music major in 1975, and Sanjo and I became close friends through our music classes and our membership in Marshall's chorale.

In 1976, Marshall...

In 1965 CSUDH opened its doors in Palos Verdes. I was lucky enough to be in Marshall Bialosky's first music class and also a member of his Women's Chorale. His knowledge of music and sense of humor enlivened college life. He made my family and future husband feel welcome to all performances. Our prayers are with Sanjo and her family.

As it happens I am one of those older members referred to by Marshall Bialosky's widow Sanjo in her message to SCI who belonged to the ASUC in its earliest days and who also, coincidentally, served terms as a regional chair soon thereafter. What I so keenly recall from those days was the genuine and selfless devotion Marshall always exhibited whenever he was present among us (then) younger composers. There was never a time when I was in his company at an SCI event or when my wife Genevieve...

An inspiration to me.

When I was just getting started as a professional composer, Marshall gave me a great deal of upbeat encouragement and support, for which I'll always be grateful.

I am so sorry to hear about Marshall. As I began to make my transition to life as a composer he was very supportive, to the point of even chastising me (nicely) in 2005 when I organized an SCI regional at the University of New Mexico and didn't program a piece of mine in order to make more room for others. He had wanted to hear a piece of mine! I always enjoyed time spent with Marshall and I will miss him.

A tremendous loss!
Marshall was a great contributor to and supporter of the larger composition community.
