Dr. Marshall C. Hollingsead
April 30, 1929 to July 20, 2018
Dr. Marshall C. Hollingsead, age 89, passed away peacefully July 20, 2018, in Bakersfield, Ca.
Marshall was born in Kimball, Nebraska to Roy and Leonore Hollingsead. He was the youngest of four children, Harland, Marianne, and Howard.
Marshall graduated high school from Mountain View Academy, took pre-med at Pacific Union College, and earned his Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University in 1959. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
Marshall met his "Cuban Princess" Gladys, while she was taking nursing, also at Loma Linda University. They married in 1958. They had two sons, Marshall ll and John. Dr. Hollingsead practiced medicine for over 35 years in Lamont, Ca. Here, he did everything from delivering babies to treating patients that would knock on the door to his house at all hours seeking his medical care.
After retiring from his practice, Marshall became the Medical Director of Pacific Health Education Center in Bakersfield. In addition to giving seminars to the community and students at Pacific Health Education Center, Marshall and Gladys taught seminars throughout the world. Marshall was a board member at San Joaquin Community Hospital for many years. Marshall was a member of Hillcrest Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as an Elder. Marshall and Gladys traveled extensively. He always wanted to "see what was beyond the next mountain". Their annual motorhome trip to Mazatlan with family and friends was always looked forward to and cherished. Marshall enjoyed photography and taking care of his yard and garden, where they loved to have parties and entertain groups of friends. After fifty years of marriage, he lost his beloved wife Gladys.
Marshall found love again and married Ina Schneider, widow of Cecil Schneider D.D.S. The families were acquainted for many years. Marshall and Ina shared a love for cats and enjoyed spending time together working in their garden filled with roses and other flowers.
Marshall is survived by his wife Ina. He is also survived by son Marshall; daughter-in-law, Susan; grandsons Cade and Eric of Cambria, Ca. Son John; daughter-in-law, Jamie; and grandchildren Johnny and Janie of Cayucos, Ca.

Such a wonderful man, I remember when I was a little girl and he would open his door at all hours or meet my parents at the office at all hours of the night when one of us were sick. My family and I will forever be grateful for his kindness and how genuine he was. Thank you Dr. Hollingsead for being such a big part of our community. You will never be forgotten.

I remember at the age of 8 I was being bullied at school by a boy for months and I would go to the school nurse after lunch almost everyday and go home until the nurse contacted my parents. They took me to the Dr and he first prescribed some green yucky medicine I use to have to take . Then they took me again and he made my parents leave the room. He talked to me and asked what is going on at school and he figured out there was more to my story and he made me feel so safe I told him everything. My parents were so grateful and angry because a boy was bullying me and hitting me.. I will never forget Dr Hollingsead he was always there for our family and spoke Spanish very well with my parents. My condolences to your family prayers and love
