I met Marshall in Athens at an art gathering. I am a fine artist. Our conversation immediately raced to the profound... later I realized because his health was so bad, he had one foot on the other side, which I believe made him cherish every moment in life. No time for small talk. Who cares about the weather or anything mundane let's get to the important things, our souls, our hearts, our art, our philosophies and the truth about everything and anything. Marshall and I did an art project together we also hung out frequently in 2010-11... it was always a blast.. As struggling artists our last idea was to make a video for youtube, offering ourselves to any country who wanted us, living masters, and that would pay us fair wages to create... thus alleviating the enormous task of creating and trying to sell enough art work to live... I'm sorry we never got that done... we laughed and dreamed... we ate, shopped, drank, told stories.. I nick named Marshall "the Pirate" lovingly of course.. if you have heard his stories, you will know what I mean..Marshall knew we were in a pirated system and learned how to play in it to survive.. sort of.. Someday it is my hope society recognizes how artists lift the people, the world, our hearts and souls... I did a portrait of Marshall, prior to him passing, he loved it... A gift for him of love.. my fellow artist.. I miss him... Authentic wild man, truth teller, whimsical artist... dearly loved by so many ...

It's been four months since Marshall's departure and I still sometimes start to reach for the phone to call him at some ungodly hour. He never seemed to sleep, and he was always up for a good conversation, no matter what the hour. He was an artist in every sense of the word, and he lived artistically and whole-heartedly, feeling the good and the bad so much more accutely than most people. And when he left this life, he did it with grace. I miss his laughter, his warmth - I miss his advice, his acceptance of all things human, his inspirational ideas. There never will be anyone quite like Marshall. I hope we'll meet again.

Wow. Marshall ~ you were a one of a kind. You knew that your day was coming, so you made art ~ literally ~ out of each day. Those who attended will never forget Aislyn's Bouquet in the Garden of Eden. Marshall, you were a true artist. You inspired us with your incredible art, your phenomenal gardening skills, and your zany sense of humor. You always took things to the next level ~ maybe ten levels above ~ ha! I am grateful to have been touched by your life and grateful to have known you and your art. I am grateful to own one of your paintings. You had mad creativity and social skills. There will never be another one like you ~ that is certain. Rest in Peace Marshall Reddoch, artist, friend, gardener, entrepeneur, social extraordinaire

I almost feel like Marshall has been in my life for longer than he probably was, because I can't even remember how we met! He must have left quite an impression on me, I spent a lot of fun times at his home and escorting him to various art galleries around Athens. We shared many good meals together, cooked by him of course, made with the yummy veggies from his garden. Just walking into his small apartment was like entering a gallery! He had all his beautiful paintings everywhere, photos of the interesting life he led and numerous articles written about him. Needless to say, I felt privileged to be in his presence. Never a shortage of good conversation either. His garden was made from seeds he had saved from last year, donations from friends, or just cheap stuff from Walmart, but I always told him he was born with a green thumb ;-) I had gotten the same seeds as he did, on a shopping trip together, mine never really took but his garden always flourished! I knew he had a great deal of friends,( he was ALWAYS on that phone) but reading the comments here made me realize he had a wonderful group of true friends and for that I'm very grateful. It was nice to hear from Art's post that Marshall had found religion recently. Dear Marshall, I know you are keeping the Angels entertained at this very moment, save some jokes for me buddy, we will see each other again! Thank you as well for not only your friendship, but the friends I made through you and the beautiful world of art you introduced me to.

I knew Maeshall as Randy. When he decided to go by Marshall, I forever called him Randy Marshall. For 47 years we were close friends from Military School until we talked about me comimg over to Athens and spending a few days togather when he gets out of the hospital.
There will never be another Randy Marshall Reddoch. So talented in so many areas.he could turn anything into art. I will miss him dearly. I hope I can find the video of him in Elba in 1993. I will post it on youtube.

I truly loved this man, my old billy goat. He was an amazing artist, person, and friend. He lived larger than life. I will forever treasure his memory and I am lucky enough to have some of his artwork to help keep the memories alive.

Marshall and I never met but we had a close relationship over the phone for number of years.
I live in another state and was referred to him by a mutual friend to help him with some insurance problems he was having years ago. It's funny how close you can become to a person never having really met them but I knew him very well. He was a very Intelligent articulate man Obviously very talented when it came to art and he will be missed. I know that he found religion late in life and we talked about it quite a bit. We would talk frequently well into the night about all kinds of things going on with our lives.
The last time I talked to him he was in the hospital very close to death and we had a short conversation and I wished him Godspeed and that was our last conversation.
I considered him a close friend and I will miss him very much.
