Not sure what to say?

My great grandparents moved to Fiske Ave near Magoun Sq in 1880. My grandmother grew up there , married and lived nearby. She was a friend of Marshall Sloane Sr. I remember early 1950s going into the furniture store in Magoun Sq. My mother asked to see Mr Sloane and he came down from the mezzanine , called her by her maiden name and hugged her. When I got out of the Navy 1970, my mother took me to meet Mr Sloane at The Century Bank near Foss Park. Like his father, Mr Sloane was...

I was honored to meet Marshall, Barry, and Linda during my tenure on Magic 106.7. When I was asked to endorse Century Bank, Marshall sat with me in the studio, sharing his many stories. What a man...his spirit was so strong and when you were in his presence, you could feel how deeply he loved his family, and how proud he was on the bank he built. Marshall told me that his employees and his customers were like family to him, and I know that there are hundreds, if not thousands of people...

The first time I met Marshall was when he was in his 60's and racing up this long set of stairs to meet me at the top. He wasn't winded and said with a big smile, "I hear that you want to rent a space
in this building." I stood there in silence a little stunned by his vigorous personality. I smile when I think of him and bemoan the fact that he's no longer here.

Mrs Agnes Bresnahan of Lawrence remembers Marshall's kindness to her husband John and family and sends love and condolences to Barbara.

Barry & Family:

Just found out about your Dad's passing because of an add I saw on TV. He was such a great banker and community person. First met him when I was an examiner with the FDIC and followed his career for years. I know he was very proud of his family and its amazing accomplishments. My deepest condolences to you and your family. He left quite a legacy.

Best Regards,

Dick Donovan

I was a tenant for 30 years in one of Marshall's buildings in Medford Square. When it can time to renew my lease I would visit him and we would talk for awhile about Winter Hill, his father and mother and all he learned from them. Well I learned a lot from Marshall. He made it clear that family was everything and treating people fairly and respectfully was critical. He was a gentleman and a compassionate soul with values and morals and he was not afraid of hard work. I will miss you and your...
