Not sure what to say?

Words cannot describe how deeply saddened we are to hear about your loss. I first met Dr. Wright when I was a student in his class. Over the years, we've exchanged our yearly Christmas cards to keep in touch. I remembered fondly looking forward to receiving his card because of his whimsical drawings, humorous greetings or even a comic strip he'd managed to attach. What a beautiful person and what an honor to have met him! He will truly be missed.

Virginia,

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

I am so glad I got to know Marty and will always remember his ball cap and quick wit. Growing up I always thought Marty was one of the coolest adults I knew. He had such a great way of looking at the world and was always such a joy to see.

I'm so glad I got to see him one last time this summer-- even if just briefly. He really was a gem.

Virginia,
so sorry about your loss. He was a great student in my German and French Classes at l Poly and a wonderful musician at the dances we attended.
May his memory be blessed.

There would have been no Rural Jazz Ensemble without Marty Wright. The light has gone out. What a drag.

Virginia,

I will always remember Marty as a "hip cat." He was the coolest, with his straight-faced sense of humor and soulful sax playing. May you and your family have peace in knowing that Marty made a difference in the lives of those he touched.

Virginia: Shirley and I join the many others in expressing our sorrow at your loss. It has been a joy and an honor to have been a small part of your lives for fifty years. Every local musician who played alongside Marty strived to be a better player trying to rise to his level.

He's playing the lead tenor part in the ultimate band by now, so he's in a better place.

Rod and Shirley

Dear Virgina-
I miss Marty's wry smile and wonderful performances. What an honor to sit in the same SLO Symphony woodwind section with you and Marty for so many years. Love and support to you to and your family.

Virginia and Family,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of this great man and musician. I grew to know Marty through my clarinet lessons with Virginia while I grew up on the central coast. I'll always remember his funny, quick witted remarks he'd have every time I saw him. Great jokes and always cheerful. I had the pleasure to later get to know him as a saxophonist as I started to play around the SLO county area. He will be missed.

Dear Virginia,
We are so sad to hear of the loss of your beloved. Just yesterday Alice told us the sorrowful news. Over the past couple of years we knew how concerned you were for Marty and how heartbreaking his physical setbacks. Even though our family did not personally know him well, we knew the impact his career and many contributions made to your family and the whole community. Our deepest sympathy.
