Arty, Lucy and I were so sorry to hear of Martel's passing. We were even more sorry that we did not know until after his services. As you know, Martel and I grew up together, and our families were very close. In fact, when Martel's dad died in a car accident, the twins stayed with our family for a few days. I even worked for Martel selling Honda motorcycles for five years at Apache Honda East in Mesa. Where is Dick Cole now? We were close to both of you when we attended the ASU Married Ward...

From all of my memories of my teenage years, the Coke Oven overnight was one of my most exciting memories. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime event. Martel was the Teacher’s Quorum Advisor in the 1970’s and he had worked out plans to take his Teacher’s Quorum on a motorcycle trip to the Coke Ovens. He planned it for months and none of us boys in his Priesthood Quorum had any idea what was in store for us. Previously, Martel had taken us out on afternoon motorbike rides but our imaginations...
