Continued prayers and heartfelt condolences to Martin's family and friends. We were in the same FS oral exam group, the only two who passed, and we attended Foreign Service Officer training together. He was a great guy, with a wonderful sense of humor.

Martin was a dear friend, roomate, and dorm buddy of mine from American University. I was a brash young 20 something and he was already a grown person but somehow we got along great. We had lots of fun hanging out at the Davenport Lounge at American University, sitting around our hot stinky apartment off Wisconsin Ave. Me dragging him off to a night club called the 5th Column. He would always share the Pete's Coffee his sister would send him and I would share my home made potstickers. ...

I continue to keep Martin and his family in my prayers. Hard to believe that so much time has gone by. I am now retire from the Foreign Service, but still remember our first day together as Martin and I faced the beginning of our Foreign Service orientation class. May he rest in eternal peace. I am so sorry to learn of Marty's death. I was just thinking about him today, and decided to look him up. I was one of Marty's roommates in Madrid in 1976. I will always remember how funny Marty was, and the fact that he had no idea of how funny he was. He was kind and thoughtful and very bright! We had wonderful arguments and great meals together. I share in your loss and will always remember Marty as a young man in Madrid who insisted on ordering in English at Burger King! May his...

I am so very sorry to hear of Martin's passing. He and I took the Foreign Service Oral Examination together, and we were the lucky two who passed it that day. Martin and I were then in the Foreign Service Orientation Class together, where his good nature, wonderful sense of humor, and intelligence made a lasting impression. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Martin's family. Steve and Ute Hubler

My heartfelt condolences to Martin's family and wife Lourdes, who was part of our "Consular Section" at U.S. Embassy Mexico City. Martin's humor, sharp mind and upbeat demeanor kept our daily workplace enjoyable when he served in the American Citizen Services Unit with me at the Embassy. He was helpful and cordial with our customers - even the most demanding, difficult ones! I was pleased to have attended his wedding in Mexico City and to have followed up during subsequent years when our...

Marty was a good friend of Mark Johnson- a life long friend. He will be greatly missed by myself, Kathy Johnson. I will always miss his funny sarcasm and how he could get your adrenal rushing in a heartbeat. I also know he had a huge tenderness behind the facade. Sorry he had to suffer for so long. Please contact Mark and I for the memorial.
