Jean was born and grew up on the family farm seven miles outside Benton, Kansas. She was the fourth of six children born to Roy and Carrie Haley.
Jean had a passion for learning, writing and teaching. She was Valedictorian of her high school graduating class. In 1950 Jean moved to Modesto where she raised her family. She soon began a 25 year career working with hyperactive children in the pediatric office of Dr. Bill Forney. This was her true passion.
For health reasons she moved to Cold Springs, CA where the family cabin became her home. It was the center of large family gatherings that everyone looked forward to. While in Cold Springs, Jean became the secretary at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where she worked until she was in her 80's. Ironically, she needed to move back to Modesto for health reasons. This made it possible for her to spend the rest of her days with family and close friends.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Velmer Reeh; her youngest sister Eleanor, sons James and Bob Henman and spouses, numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her remaining siblings, and the father of her children, Pete Henman. Also by one daughter Bette Pelphrey.
Services will be held at Jesus Our Savior Anglican Church at 1038 McHenry Ave. on Saturday, Sept. 1st at 2:00pm. Dessert reception to follow.
