Mary Margaret Romig

1933 - 2020

Mary Margaret Romig, 87, was born May 15, 1933, and died December 19, 2020 at St. Joseph of Harahan, Louisiana. Mary was the daughter of the late Hyacinth Mc Cabe Romig and Clinton Clyde Romig. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph and his wife, Elia, John, Clinton, and his wife, Dorothy, William and Jerry, and good friend Jeanne Ploger. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Janice Romig and Marie Romig and many nieces and nephews and their families. Mary attended and graduated from Sacred Heart High School (Canal Street) and Tulane University. Mary was an educator at St. Agnes School and served as principal at Alice Birney Elementary School for many years. She was an active member of Kappa Kappa Iota National Sorority. Mary earned a Dancing Teacher's Certificate from Jeanne Ploger School of Dance, where she was an instructor for many years. Upon retirement from teaching, Mary was a licensed real estate agent with Latter & Blum. Mary was a regular attendee at the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans. She loved traveling throughout the United States and Europe. A very special thank you to Earlee Dillon who provided Mary wonderful, loving care for two years as her live in companion. A private funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Visitation for family is at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
