Matthew J. Abinanti

ABINANTI Matthew J. Abinanti passed away at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the age 89. Beloved husband of the late Helen Alloy Abinanti. Son of the late John V. Abinanti and Virginia Ventura Abinanti. Father of Cyndi Wolfe and Deborah Stolzenthaler. Survived by his sister Olivia, 'Abby" Moeller. Brother of the late Antonette Tournillon, and the late Joseph Abinanti. Also survived and loved by his son-in-laws, Walter Wolfe and Brian Stolzenthaler. Grandfather of Tim Wolfe and his wife Nancy, Christine S. Bordelon, Amy S. Adkins and her husband Patrick, Jacalyn S. Williamson and husband Brian and Matt Wolfe and his wife Danielle. Also blessed and survived by 16 great-grandchildren. Victoria 'Tori' Wolfe, Cameron Chauvin, Christopher 'Chris' Wolfe, Madison 'Maddie' Adkins, Collin Stolzenthaler, Taylor Wolfe, Blake Adkins, Kaleigh Bordelon, Emilee Adkins, Saige Wolfe, Tenley Williamson, Peyton Adkins, Ayden Adkins, Ethan Adkins, Stella Wolfe and Lucas Williamson. Matthew enlisted and served his country during World War II as a tail-gunner in the Army Air Corp with Gen. Chennault's Flying Tigers. He was an avid fisherman. He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone he met! His family would like to thank the Clarity Hospice staff for all the comfort and personal care they brought into the last few months of his life. In lieu of flowers, his family would ask you to make a donation to Clarity Hospice. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
