His name is & I do mean 'IS' instead of was, because he will continue to live through me and the people he inspired. Matthew empowered me when I was a youth. He was one of the individuals that helped me become the person I am today. Our relationship started when I was 14 years young. We met at Luke Krohn Rec. Center, located in the heart of Duppa Villa Projects.

He gave me my first legal job. He took me under his wing and taught me how to hustle legitimately. From basketball...

He was a unique character who can always make you laugh so hard you cry, he never thought of himself as amyhing more and a big kid! That's why he was always so amazing with the young people he worked with, and why he would call himself Uncle Holiday. He touched the lives of many people and will always be remembered and loved with great respect....I miss you Matty!

I was so sorry to hear about the loss of Matthew. A wonderful person that cared about all children. Your own children will miss you and am sure will never forget you. I am glad I got to know you through my son and your friend Xavier Barajas you were always kind and resceptful to me and I will never forget your wonderful smile as you talked about your children the love you had for them shined. Rest in peace.
