Not sure what to say?

Mr. Elky was my band teacher at Randallstown Elementary in the early 70s. He taught and inspired me, helping me learn how to play the saxophone competently. I just came across this notice. I spoke about Mr. Elky to many friends. I regret not connecting with him over these many years. I appreciated his joyous approach to band.

Mr. Elky was my first orchestra teacher in the late 90s. He taught me violin and foundational music theory, which is still the backbone to my understanding and teaching of music today. I had the fortune of meeting him again in early 2017 by sheer chance, in an encounter that served as a spiritual linchpin in my pivot to a musical career. I may still be in a soul crushing situation were it not for Mr. Elky's kindness and wisdom. God willing, I'll carry his teachings and grace through my...

Mr Elky was my flute teacher at Randallstown Elementary School when I was in fifth and sixth grades, in the 66/67 and 67/68 school years. He was kind and patient and made everyone feel special. My condolences to the family.

I'm sorry to hear about Mr. Elky's passing. He was my cooperating teacher when I was a student teacher at Randallstown and Church Lane Elementary in the spring of 1985! His guidance inspired me to continue teaching and I still have student mementos from that experience in my "memory" drawer. His gentle nature and passion for music and teaching was infectious. His legacy will live on in the music world! I'll see you again one day old friend. Thank you for everything!

We are so thankful for all the music and service Matt brought to Trinity Reisterstown for all the years. He will be missed !

I have not seen Matt for years and years and when I heard about his passing, I know that many would mourn the loss of his presence. I remember acting with him in Come Blow Your Horn at the Reisterstown Community Theatre (which he also directed) and remembering his time there with fond memories. Kathy, I pray for you and your family, that God would keep you in this difficult time. God bless you!
