I had the privilege of getting to know Matt when I worked at the Idaho State Journal for three years. He reminded me a lot of my younger brother and we became friends when I offered to fix his ripped jeans. I think it shocked him that someone would offer to do something like that for him but he bravely brought his spare pair to work the next day and I fixed a patch on the seat and then the next day I fixed the other.
