Meaghan Holahan Obituary

Meaghan D. Holahan, 35, of Victoria, BC, Canada, gained her angel wings and was met over the rainbow bridge by her heart cat Angee on July 9, 2025.

Born September 15, 1989, in San Antonio, TX, Meaghan is the daughter of Vince and Trish Holahan. Meaghan was a proud Urbana High School Class of 2007 graduate. After graduation, Meaghan achieved her dream of attending the University of British Columbia in Canada, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

After graduating with her undergraduate degree, Meaghan moved back to Maryland where she worked as a special education assistant within Frederick County Public Schools. She was deeply committed to her students, taking pride in the lives she touched, the differences she made, and the growth she witnessed. After a few years in Maryland, Meaghan returned to Canada where she felt most at home, settling in Victoria, BC. While there, she continued to work with students facing educational challenges, and found a passion for tutoring students. Meaghan moved cross-country once again to pursue her graduate degree, and on June 15 2025 proudly walked the stage at Northwestern University where she received her Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a degree she spent the last two years diligently working to achieve.

Through her time tutoring and her clinical counseling internship, Meaghan changed the life of many students facing challenging times and created lasting relationships with several of her "kids". Many of her former students continued to keep in touch after they graduated and viewed her as a confidante, mentor, and most importantly, friend. During her graduate clinical internship, Meaghan gave her all-never turning away a client, always prioritizing others' needs. Her heart and soul were fully devoted to the healing and growth of those she served.

Meaghan was an artist at heart. She spent her free time pursuing her passion of photography and was often seen out with her camera around her neck. She also enjoyed making jewelry, crocheting and knitting gifts for friends, and spending time in the pottery studio - her handmade gifts will be forever cherished. A lover of the outdoors, Meaghan found peace in hiking, camping, and being near the water. She loved to plan adventures, and help organize and prepare special events and celebrations, always eager to make those she cared for feel seen and celebrated.

Come fall, Meaghan was never far from a Green Bay Packers game. As a proud owner of the team, Meaghan bled Green and Gold. Whether she was watching the game, streaming it anyway possible, or messaging her sisters about the latest update, Meaghan was always in the know about what was happening in the game. She spent the off season tracking trades or discussing the latest update that occurred with the team. Meaghan was so proud of the many trips she took to Lambeau Field to watch a Packers game. One of her proudest moments was wearing her Packers gear through the Chicago O'Hare airport after the Packers beat the Bears, trading jabs with any Bears fan that dared to make a comment.

Meaghan is survived by her parents, Trish and Vince, her sisters, Caitlyn Druktenis (Jacki) and Erin Holahan Bacon (Eric), her niece, Riley Druktenis, her kindred spirit and aunt, Deirdre Stuart. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends she considered family-along with their children, who knew her lovingly as Auntie Meaghan. She was fiercely proud of all her extended nieces and nephews and embraced the role of Auntie with joy and devotion

Meaghan will be remembered for her boundless compassion, artistic spirit, and fierce loyalty to the people-and animals-she loved. She touched countless lives and always went out of her way to help those in need, especially animals. Just before returning to Canada for the final time, Meaghan raised funds to save a family of cats-one of many examples of her lifelong commitment to rescue work.

Two celebrations of life for Meaghan will be held: the first in Victoria, BC (a date to be determined), and the second at Grace Episcopal Church in New Market, MD on Saturday September 13, 2025. The celebration at Grace Episcopal Church will be held as a Packers themed birthday party in order to truly celebrate all the joy she brought to everyone's life and her love of the Packers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local cat rescue. Kitties & Cream in Nanaimo, BC, SOS Prairie Rescue in Saskatoon, SK and Saving Graces 4 Felines in Winterville, NC were the ones closest to her heart. Meaghan would have donated to any cat rescue in need and would have loved it if you could support them in honor of her devotion.
