Not sure what to say?

I was fortunate enough to have Melva as a teacher at Jessie Beck for 1st and 3rd grades. She was a wonderful person; and made sure she found her students once she retired to see how what they were doing and the career paths we choose. It was great to see her at that time. I will never forget her. I am sorry for your loss; thoughts and prayers are with the family. Marla (Morgan) Brennan

I will aways remember Melva at the bridge table and on the road trips to Brookings with "the girls." She could sure tell a great story!! She was a dedicated teacher and mentor truly inspired her students and everyone around her. I hadn't seen her in awhile, but I miss her very much. My thoughts are with her close friends, Pat, Marian, Kathy, and Pat G.

My husband and I were sad to hear of the passing of Melva Ann. We were friends from early childhood in Elko. During our brownie and scout troop days we had many fun adventures together. We will miss seeing her at our class reunions.

I was a 3rd grade student of Mrs. Howell's at Jessie Beck in 1972. I remember her fondly and am deeply sorry for your loss.

Like so many others, I will miss my dear friend Melva. For more than 30 years I have considered her a part of my family, and her humor, intelligence, wit, and spirit will be sorely missed. The world has lost an exceptional person. I will always love you, Miss Toast! Jonrie Etchemendy Davila

Melva Ann will be deeply missed by all those who loved her. She is a happy memory in my childhood and will be in my heart along with
"those Nevada Lynches" forever. My thoughts are with you in your time of sorrow. Love, Barbara Lee Lynch Smith

I met Melva during the many years that my wife Rhonda taught 3rd grade next door to her at Jessie Beck. Over the years I came to know Melva as an oustanding teacher and a dear friend. She always had a great zest for life, and throughly enjoyed her students fellow teachers, and many friends. Melva was blessed with a warm smile, hearty laugh, passion for learning, and a strong independent spirit. Melva was loyal to her friends and one of those solid people you know you can always depend on....

Teaching 3rd grade next door at Jessie Beck with Melva for many yeears was a true pleasure. She was witty, wise, and helpful. Melva was a great teacher who was always willing to share her wealth of experience with fellow educators. She gave even more to education outside the classroom whether it was the Ocean Project, Science Fair Judge, or coming to read to my class during Reading Week. After she retired from the classroom she continued to contribute to education through mentoring...

I will miss my dear friend, Melva. We spent many happy times together in our Elko neighbor hood and Girl Scout Troop. I think her scout name was Elf. It certainly fit didn't it? She was always the happy camper. I use many of the ideas she shared to teach my students. We gave out daughter Melva's middle name Ann to show her how much she meant to both my husband and me.
