Melvin and his family lived in our neighborhood in Guardian Angels parish, and he was great friends with my brother, Patrick...and all of our family. Always smiling, always friendly. A great guy. - Jed Ervin

As an alumna, I worked at Rockhurst University and Mel was a cherished volunteer and wise counsel. A kind, gracious man with a ready smile, keen wit and formidable expertise, he made me feel seen and heard. His stories about his family and visiting his dad were delightful and life-affirming. Mel was such a good person. I am forever grateful to have known him. He will be missed. I hold you all in my thoughts.

Rita, Mel was a wonderful gentleman! He was a great family man. My father Romaine enjoyed telling jokes and hanging out at the Fischer family reunion.
