A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30, Visitation 10:00 and Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM Monday, November 24, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th St. Shawnee, KS. Melvin and his family lived in our neighborhood in Guardian Angels parish, and he was great friends with my brother, Patrick...and all of our family. Always smiling, always friendly. A great guy.

As an alumna, I worked at Rockhurst University and Mel was a cherished volunteer and wise counsel. A kind, gracious man with a ready smile, keen wit and formidable expertise, he made me feel seen and heard. His stories about his family and visiting his dad were delightful and life-affirming. Mel was such a good person. I am forever grateful to have known him. He will be missed. I hold you all in my thoughts.

Mel was a wonderful gentleman! He was a great family man. My father Romaine enjoyed telling jokes and hanging out at the Fischer family reunion. My mother will be sending a memorial inn honor of Mel.
