Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home - McKenney Obituary

Psalm 23 - The Lord Our Shepherd:  The Lord is my shepherd;  I have everything I need.  He lets me rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.  He gives me new strength.  He guides me in the right paths, as He has promised.  Even if I go through the...

Not sure what to say?

My sincerest condolences to Maurice and all of the Taylor family and friends and to th ose whose lives were touched by Melvin and Maurice.

“Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight....

So very sorry for the family loss. Mr. Taylor was truly one of the best. Always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be missed. Hang in there family. Things will get better in time.

I first became aquainted with Melvin Taylor in the early 1960's at J.E.J. Moore H.S. In the late 1960's we were seeing more of each other as we were both dating 2 Spicely girls, first cousins; Maurice and Tonie. In '69 Melvin T. married Maurice. In '71 I married Tonie. For the next 50 + years we remained close. A "friend" is defined as A person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection. Prov. 18:24, "A man that hath friends must show himself friendly. And there is a...

To Maurice:
My heart dropped when I saw Melvin's name in the obituaries. I first met the Taylors at the age of about 7 or 8 years old. Our family spent so many days in their home and at their dinner table. I have always felt as though we were family, although, in my adult years, I didn't see any of you very often.
Melvin gave me my first haircut. I was told by Melvin and you Maurice, that I introduced you to each other. I only remember what you told me about that, but I am so glad...

Melvin was a great brother-in-law, who loved and cared for my parents & children. He gave TJ his first hair cut and what a cut it was.lol. I loved his laugh and will cherish the good memories spent at dinners, even if we had to wait on him and Calvin to return from deer hunting. Mel loved Mo, and Mo loved Mel. May the peace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, rest on his family!
