I am sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Merle Diment. What a very well-written obituary!- - Dr. Diment certainly lived the “dash” between 1933 and 2015 to the fullest.
I remember hearing Dr. Diment's name mentioned no less than weekly by Coach Ron Peterson, longtime Hoover HS Coach & Teacher, when I was running track and cross country at Hoover High School from 1982-85.
