Betty and Family We send our sympathy as you mourn the earthly absence of your husband and father. What a unique and talented man...simply put, he was one of a kind. May God surround you with His comfort, and may you find joy in remembering all the fun times you have enjoyed together. You will be in our thoughts on the 6th, as our current location in Florida prevents us from being present at the service honoring his life. God bless you in your time together.Jackson and Charlene Ver Steeg

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Merle Diment. What a very well-written obituary!- - Dr. Diment certainly lived the “dash” between 1933 and 2015 to the fullest.
I remember hearing Dr. Diment's name mentioned no less than weekly by Coach Ron Peterson, longtime Hoover HS Coach & Teacher, when I was running track and cross country at Hoover High School from 1982-85. Dr. Diment was a tremendous supporter of Hoover High School. His son, Mike, held the school records for both the 3,200 meters (9:16) and 1,600 meters (4:16) when I was there - interesting that I still recall those times. I need to see if those records still stand. Mike was also a Drake Relays Champion and a State Champion - the most accomplished runner to come out of Hoover High School before or since. I remember Coach Pete telling guys like Darryl Woods, Kyle Caudle, Matt Hill, David Eick, Doug Reeves, Dave Nash, Darry Flannery and many others that back when he was coaching Mike Diment there would be “practice” followed by the after-practice with Dr. Diment - usually sprint work. I have enjoyed keeping in touch with Linda Diment over the years. My most sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Merle Diment. RIP.
