AVALLONE


DR. MICHAEL F. AVALLONE SR., was one of the Northeast Philadelphia's most prominent primary care physicians. His family practice has served the community since 1961, with the opening of his first office on Harbison Avenue. As the practice grew he opened a second location in 1985 on Holme Avenue. In 2003, his dream of a "one stop" state of the art medical center came true with the opening of the 2813 Medical Building located on Cottman Avenue.
Dr. Avallone Sr. maintained leadership positions in a great number of medical organizations: Past President of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, Pennsylvania General Practitioners Society, American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners. He was a member of the Philadelphia County Osteopathic Medical Society, Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and American Osteopathic Association. He served on the American Osteopathic Association Socio-Economic Committee, and served as chairman of the Convention Committee for the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and the American Osteopathic Association. He was chairman of the Convention Committee for the Philadelphia Osteopathic Medical Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
He is survived by his loving wife Regina, his three children, Dr. Michael F. Jr., Regina L., and Dr. John A.; and his grandchildren, Jamee, Gabriella, Vincent, Gia and Michael III. Dr. Michael F. Avallone Sr. will be missed dearly, as he touched so many lives over the years. Viewing will be held at St. Bartholomew Church at 5:30 P.M. Wednesday with Funeral Mass on Thursday morning 10 A.M .
