Not sure what to say?

As Chair of the OCADUniversity Board of Governors Michael assured the controversial passage of an employment equity plan that would see women received equal access to teaching. For this we are forever grateful. A visionary and a fair man.

Sorry to learn of Michael´s passing. My mum Helen was the one who kept us informed of family news from the east. Sadly we have lost connection with so many. Our condolences and sympathy.

Dear Mark and Miranda and family, I am sorry to learn of your father´s passing. What a remarkable life led by a remarkable man--an inspiration for us all. Trevor

Michael changed my life, as he did many others, when I came to work for Key Publishers at Quill & Quire. I was fresh out of university and eager to get involved in the publishing world. Michael had a talent for encouraging people to thrive and do things they never believed they were capable of. If he had an idea - for instance, to create a Canadian magazine association - he would reach out to someone on staff and make it happen. I was lucky enough to be picked by him on several ventures,...

Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of Michael de Pencier. The loss of such an inspiring individual is felt profoundly. Michael´s visionary approach, dedication to environmental stewardship, and commitment to journalistic integrity have left an indelible mark on Canada and beyond. His legacy lives on in the positive impact he had on everyone he touched. May his memory continue to inspire us all. We are truly sorry for this loss and hold his loved ones in our...

Michael De Pencier was a very special character. He completely charmed and inspired those of us who worked for him (Toronto Life Magazine). I will never forget his humor, his kindness, his energy, his smile/laugh and his genuine interest in what we would be discussing. Michael was an incredibly supportive boss. He was an all round fun person and "as bright as a spark". So sorry to hear he is gone. I am sure he will live on in many hearts, as he will do in mine. Thank you Michael for a great...

I met Michael many years ago when I was applying to be the NY rep for Toronto Life magazine. After our meeting he said to the sales manager `hire her´. And the fun began. A year later the sales manager left and after talking to the other sales people I had their approval and became the new ad sales manager. Michael´s style! Then I became the publisher of Your Money magazine. Michael was so involved in those days and so much fun. My next move was Canadian Geographic mag and Michael stayed in...

I happened on Michael´s obituary this afternoon. I am deeply touched and saddened. I worked for Toronto Life magazine (and many other titles) as a new stand sales representative 1979-1983. I was honoured to hold such a title, and work for such a wonderful company. Michael was always present, a classy gentleman to everyone he encountered. A life beautifully lived.

Whilst living in London, Michael called me one evening and said he heard I was there and would I like to help him with WHERE London, a title he had just bought. I immediately said yes!
I spent the next 3 + years helping to upgrade the quality of the advertising: theatre, fine antique and art galleries in St James's and Mayfair..I told him he was paying me to do what I did naturally.
A few years later I returned to help launch Wedding Bells in the USA..
Thank you...
