Hurricane Carla hit the Texas Gulf Coast in September 1961. My Mom and Butch's Mom, Francis were very good friends. Since their home on Battleground Road, right near the Monument Restaurant, totally blew away, my Mom invited Butch to come and stay with us until his Mom could get settled and he could return home with his family. A great man that will be greatly missed!

Butch was a one of a kind man. What a great father to his kids and grand kids, a wonderful family man. and as Becky Davis said, always welcoming. Witty, funny, smart,and quite a card. So sorry for yall's loss.

I will never forget you Mr. DeCarrie. The kindness, love and welcomeness you have always shown me will always remain in my heart. I have and always will respect you. Heaven got an amazing man and unfortunately we lost one. RIP Mr. DeCarrie
