Not sure what to say?

Dear Barry & family, What an amazing dad you had! May the memories of his full life always be tucked safely in your heart. No doubt, he was blessed by you and you by him. Love never dies. With care, Lisa and family.

Wonderful reporter, kind, smart, thoughtful (and I say that as a younger competitor, an education writer for the Sac Bee many moons past, when Sacramento had TWO daily newspapers). . .Such a tremendous legacy.

Mike Fallon was a very respected colleague. UPI trained, Covered his education beat at the Sacramento Union with top flight professionalism. His copy was accurate and comprehensive. He hardly ever missed important first-take reactions on local and state education issues. Mike was part of the Union's Irish contingent whose other main stars included Terry Eagan and Mike O'Connor. Mike always watched my back--literally--his desk was behind mine and he added to our lively newsroom banter with...

I am sad that my doc won't let me attend. Mike knew how much respect and affection I had for him. He knew the blessing of being there for us all.--Hilary Abramson

One thing that amazed me about Michael was his dedication to friends. He maintained a 70+ year long friendship with someone from his boyhood days in San Mateo (Brian Kidney, who passed in 2012). Says a lot about a person to maintain that strong of a bond for so long. Rest in peace.

A prince of a reporter and a fine fellow, you will be remembered fondly. You always had kind, patient words for us rookie reporters. Steve Magagnini

Michael was a pro's pro in the newspaper business with all the valued qualities it took to be successful — a balanced temperament, friendly, caring, wise, witty and a tireless worker against our bigger rival at the time, The Sacramento Bee. He was a trooper through and through, a charming yet fierce competitor. His dedication to The Union ran deep despite the challenges of ownership changes and economic struggles. I so remember editors asking Mike to stay late or pitch in because of...

Mike was a colleague for 20 years and a friend for 40. H will be missed by all of us. Bob Carney

A gentleman who will be missed.
