Not sure what to say?

My deepest, sincerest condolences to his family. I only knew Mike professionally, but well enough to know he was one of the "good guys" on this earth. We talked hockey now and again, and something he once said will always remain with me. We were chatting about how easy it is to have a puck taken away (especially from me), and he said, "When that happens, go back and get it." And so every time I go back to get a puck that was taken from me, his voice echoes in my head. It makes me try that...

Ruth Ann, I was so sorry to come across the obituary for your husband in the recent edition of the Chicago Tribune. It was just recently that your Mom walked by our house while I was in the yard and we caught up as well as one can when years have gone by. My thoughts are with you and your children.

So sorry to hear, my thoughts are with your family at this time. Even though I have not seen Mike in a long time, he was a big part of my life growing up. Since we lived a couple of houses down, there were so many baseball, football and basketball games played, and boy Mike could play, especially basketball. Such a nice boy and looks like he grew up to be a great person, he will be missed.

Mike and I went through high school together but didn´t really become friends until we were probably Juniors. He was athletic and popular, and I was more in the "alternative music" clique. He and Mike O´Brien were always together and the three of us somehow ended up really good friends by the end of 12th grade. Mike J wrote in my senior yearbook about how unlikely it was that a "jock" and a "waver" would become close friends. But we had, and we enjoyed a lot of great times together that last...

My heartfelt sympathies and prayers to the Jennings family. I have many great childhood memories of Mike growing up across the street from his wonderful family. We played various sports and other activities along with other neighbors. I will never forget the fun we had together as kids! I will continue to keep Mike and his family in my prayers to heal through this difficult time. God Bless. Sincerely, Tony and Carrie Alt.
