My thoughts and prayers are with Mike's family today. Mike and I went to St. Columba Grade School and Wilson High School together. He was a great guy and I will add his name to the 'In Memorium' page of our high school class website...

I know Mike Joyce. We met in the early 1950s in grade school. St Columba. We became friends, and by the time we went to different high schools, we were best of friends. We did a lot of "First times" together. We worked at Wards together, and got our Draft Notices on the same day. Mike Joyce was a strong man in character and physically.
We went to basic training together before we went in different directions for training school. I went to Vietnam in Aug 1966, and Mike came at the beginning of 1967. In the midst of 300,000 troops we were stationed in the same jungle compound 5 miles from Cambodia. Mike Joyce is a brave man. He did things that froze me in fear. He was a Crew Chief on a Huey Gun Ship. He volunteered for that. We slept a mere 100 yards apart, and talked every evening about our day and getting back home.
We met our wives together, they were good friends also. Mike loved hockey, and we enjoyed many Saints, and Stars games. He had a passion for High School hockey and tried to go to as many games as possible. He wanted to have children and enjoyed everyone's kids. He was a member of the VFW and the Legion. He was quiet about his tour of duty in Vietnam, it left some deep scars. I will always remember Mike Joyce as loving life and living it to the max. My prayers and condolences to Sandy and their children. Michael, you have left a huge hole in the hearts of many. You will be missed.

My condolences to Sandy and the Joyce family. Mike was a wonderful man who had a big heart. I remember him giving me some coaching on hitting up at Frost Lake rec center as a young kid. He was always helping flooding ice rinks etc.. He was an excellent tradesmen Tinner.I was lucky to grow older and still be friends with Mike. I enjoyed golfing with Mike and talking about old days of us neighborhood kids over a cold beer and the juke box playing some Gladys Knight or David Ruffin. Mike you definitely were a good friend and more than that a husband..dad ..grandfather..and all around good person. R.I.P. Mike you will truly be missed but never forgotten.
