Dr. Michael A. Perrone, born March 13, 1928 in Rochester, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the age of 87.

Dr. Perrone was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy and Dominick Perrone; his sister, Marie Micucci, and his beloved son, Michael Perrone.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Perrone; his brother, Sam (Antionette) Perrone; his children, Greg (Carolyn) Perrone, Nancy (Phillip) Altenbern and Brian (Jennifer) Perrone; and his 13 grandchildren, Claire, Bailey, Anna, Elizabeth and Evan Perrone; Darrington, Chandler, Adam and Grace Ann Altenbern; and Shannon, Connor, Aaron and Jackson Perrone.

Michael called Rochester, Pennsylvania home for many years until 1950, at which time he served two years with The U.S. Army Intelligence Service in Naples, Italy. He returned home where he pursued his medical degree from The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now Kent State) in Cleveland, Ohio. But Nashville, Tennessee is where Michael settled to raise his family and practice medicine.

He had a thriving Podiatry practice for 37 years in Nashville, and enjoyed national recognition as a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery techniques, for which he regularly spoke nationally and internationally. Dr. Perrone served as President of the Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association, as well as the Chairman of the Podiatry Licensing Board. He authored several papers and published two books during his prolific career.

In his retirement years, Michael built an outdoor wood burning oven and enjoyed countless hours baking bread and tending his garden. He was also an inventor at heart and patented two podiatric medical devices.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 21st at 9 a.m., at St. Henry Church, followed by the funeral at 10 a.m.
