Dear Jorja,

I am so sad to hear about your loss. Michael and I served together in the Army in the Fifties and at Army Headquarters in Stuttgart. Michael was a kind and gentle man, my best man at my wedding in 1956 and he was also a good soldier. I have followed his career with interest all the ensuing fifty-plus years, and occasionally I get out the old pictures from those days, and there he is...handsome as ever. (I even have a picture of his ancient Morris Minor Convertible...

I will always remember Michael with much love and more than a little reverence as my friend, mentor, and colleague. He was a musical and humanitarian giant whose intellect was matched only by his love for what music does, and by his incredible wife, Jorja Fleezanis. His kind being and guidance will be missed in ways I cannot at this time even begin to fathom.
