Michael Sutton Obituary

Michael Patrick Sutton, also known as Mike, age 70, of Mandeville, LA, quietly passed away on April 11, 2024 after a long battle with heart disease and a short battle with lung cancer. Mike was a humble yet formidable presence, consistently pushing boundaries to better the lives of all those he touched. Mike will be remembered for his great personality, quick wit, and placing others above himself. He was always up for a challenging intellectual conversation, often about history, politics and current events. Mike was extremely well read. His hobbies included photography, drafting scaled drawings of historical ships, growing weird varieties of peppers, walking the woods with his dog, Fontana, and traveling with his wife to see "what they do over there". He also enjoyed pursuing his acting career with his car co-star, "The Tib". Mike was born on May 25, 1953, in New Orleans, LA to his parents Dorothy (Hillery) Sutton and father Herbert James Sutton who are now deceased. Mike is survived by his loving spouse, Lori Fesenbek (Bourg) Sutton; his children ean C. Sutton (Veronica) and Derek M. Bourg (Carissa); his grandchildren Cameron and Adele Bourg, and his siblings Kathleen Sutton Sievert, Timothy James Sutton, and Joann Sutton. He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Thomas Sutton. Mike dedicated 30 years to Wm. B. Allen Supply Company/Revere, where he was a jack of all trades and a director of many. He was a devout member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, often volunteering with the Liturgy Committee and Program Leader of Redeeming State. In his spare time, Mike also generously offered his time to Boy Scouts, Love On a Leash, St. Tammany Friends of the Library, AARP Tax Program and various other charitable events. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Services for Mike will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 12:00 Noon. Burial will take place at a later date in Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, Mike asks that you raise a toast in his name or enjoy a great meal with your family. Fond memories can be shared with the Sutton Family at www.gracenorthshore.com.

Mike was a quick wit and a bright guy. I remember he drove us to different school activities. Of all the people in high school he is my best memory. RIP.
