Not sure what to say?

I am deeply saddened to discover the passing of my mentor and friend, Michael Terry. Michael and I met when we were partnered as Michael (mentor) and I (protégé) participated in the Nexus Leaders´ class of 2011. I was impressed by his humor, intelligence, and modesty from our first encounter. When I met his beautiful wife, Joan, it occurred to me; this man must have it all figured out if he could pull such a fine woman as Joan. From that point on, I was listening to every word he said. I...

So sad to hear of Michael's passing. My heart goes out to you and your family. Meeting him at Luke and Megan's wedding was very special. Blessings to each of you.

I had the privilege - and pure enjoyment - of knowing Michael for the past 20 years, first through his, Joan's and his entire family's support for the Luther L. Terry Award at the American Cancer Society, but then as a friend and colleague in the ensuing years. I always learned something, had a nice laugh, and came away with more admiration for Michael every time we spoke. I will miss him, and the public health community will miss him, but his love for his family is eternal, as are the lives...

Dear Joan, Jan, Agnes, Michael and Luke, I am so sorry I can not be there to celebrate Michael´s life. I truly enjoyed his wonderful vocabulary, sense of humor and interest in a variety of subjects. I always looked forward to seeing him at board meetings. I wanted to be with you all today however, I am recovering in the hospital. I am thinking of you all and send my love. Love, Nancy Timms Rieppel

I'm sorry to hear of Michael's passing. My sincere condolences to the family. As a Luther Terry Awardee I know how hard Michael worked to keep the legacy of his father's tenure as U.S. Surgeon General alive and appropriately recognized. More importantly Michael was a tireless advocate for cancer control and a role model for those of us privileged to have interacted with him. May he rest in peace and his family be comforted by the fact that he lived a good life helping others along the way.

Dear Joan, we are so sorry to learn of Michael´s death. He certainly fought the good fight during his illness. He will be missed! Phyllis and Paul Berz

To Joan and family, it is with an extremely heavy heart that I just learned of Michaels passing. I'm still in shock. He and I just traded e-mails a few days ago and Rosa Lee and I have been saying for some time that we needed to take another trip out to Germantown to see you guys. As you probably know I only met Michael for the first time 8 years ago but for whatever reason we seemed to hit it off immediately. Of course we had some long talks about his dad and his days as the SG during...

Michael was a dynamic man with a loving, generous heart who always made others feel better in his presence. His witty humor, big smile, contagious laugh and unique perspective made my life richer. I send lots of love to Joan, Agnes, Luke and brother Luke...

Michael was such a good soul...it was a pleasure knowing him. Our condolences to Joan and Agnes and Luther. Sheldon and Shelli Rosengarten
