Not sure what to say?

Mike was my best friend. He gave so much more to everyone he cared about. Words of wisdom no matter what the situation. His written words were beautiful; he could paint a picture with words that would make it come alive. He would come to dinner at my house; we both loved seafood and fine wines. One evening there was a huge thunderstorm and we sat on the patio and watched the light show. We didn´t have to talk, the space was filled with natural beauty and our friendship. Mike, I think of...

Mike was a reassuring voice on the phone when I was working on a particularly difficult series of stories at the Kalamazoo Gazette. He was in Traverse City at the time but he was someone who knew what I was experiencing. I will always value his advice and friendship.

He was a great reporter, one of the finest to ever work at the Kalamazoo Gazette. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I wish I could still be reading his work. It was superb, honest, straight forward and true. Unfortunately we lost touch when he ventured north. Rest in peace my friend.

Mike made every story he touched during his time at the Kalamazoo Gazette better. He also brought out the best in every reporter he worked with. His search for the real story and the truth wasn't always appreciated, but it always mattered. RIP Mike.

Mike was our dear friend for 35 years. We will miss his compassion, his piercing honesty and ethics, his love of nature and his faithful presence in our lives.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Mike was my friend for 50 years. A great friend an incredible human being. He cared about the working man and we spent many hours together engaging in thoughtful and meaningful conversations. His competitive nature was evident in the many basketball, golf and football games played over the years. We shared the joy of music travelling the backroads of Michigan and attending several concerts together and with friends. I was proud to call him my friend and I shall miss him.

Mike was a great guy -worked with him at the Gazette. He was a great reporter and great softball player on on our Gazette team. The picture is one of our Detroit Tiger Opening Day trips from awhile back-The day we met Danny Bonaduce of Partridge Family fame. Visited mike a couple times per year in Manistee -RIP Mike
