Michael Walker

I knew Mike & Jimmy Walker, both great athletes and even better human beings. I worked with Jimmy on the police department and met Mike through Jimmy. We shared many a stories when we both worked for the COA. I played softball against Mike in the 70´s and 80´s and enjoyed the exchanges after the games. My heartfelt condolences during this time of loss. Rest in peace Mike, the Good Lord has brought you home.

I first met Michael at John Adams. He tall, handsome, and athletic. We continued to cross paths once we both started working for the City. With all the accolades he received, his character never changed. He always greeted one and made one feel as though we were the best of friends. He was never pompous or arrogant. A classy individual. I first met Mike in Bellingham Washington, we were playing baseball for our respective teams. I knew Mike by reputation as a tough, hardnosed catcher from Albuquerque. When I asked to meet him, I was met with who the hell wants to know !! We became good friends, butt he would not play slow pitch softball,..we later would live in the same neighborhood and had contests as to who had the best lawn, and then play basketball on our driveway until somebody bleed. My connection to Mike Walker goes back to the 1970s because of both the Bernalillo County and Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Departments. Also Mike played slowpitch softball in the 1970s and 1980s. I remember when his boys were little curly headed preschool kids running around the softball fields at Los Altos park.
